Dashboard
Purpose
- See this company’s headline numbers on one page: sales, purchases, overdue bills, cash in bank, and expenses, plus monthly charts.
- The dashboard does not post transactions. Use it to spot what needs work, then open the matching listing or report.
- Screen: General Ledger → Dashboard.
Assistant
- No dashboard wizard. Ask “how to use the dashboard” to read this guide.
- For a live books answer, open AI Agents:
- Profit this month — this month’s profit from the books.
- Who owes me — customers still owing. See Sales reports.
- Can I pay this — cash on hand against a bill amount.
- Do not type “how to…” if you wanted those live answers.
Before you start
- You are signed in to the company you want to see.
- Bank or cash special accounts exist if you want Money in bank and the bank boxes. See the chart of accounts.
- Sales, purchases, and expenses you care about are saved.
Steps
- General Ledger → Dashboard.
- Set Period. The hint on the right confirms the range.
- Read the KPI cards and charts.
- Scroll to Bank Account for each bank or cash balance.
- When a number needs action, open the matching screen. The cards do not drill by themselves.
Period
- Sales, buying, expense cards, and the charts follow Period.
- This Month. Current calendar month. This is the default.
- Last Month. Previous calendar month.
- Last 6 Months. Last six months.
- Year to Date. From 1 January of this year.
- Today. Today only.
- Unpaid customer bills past due, Unpaid supplier bills past due, Money in bank, and the Bank Account boxes are current figures. They do not follow the Period dropdown.
What each number means

- Buying this month. Posted purchases for the period. Next: Purchase Invoice, Cash Purchase, or Purchase Report.
- Unpaid customer bills past due. Customer invoices past due date, still outstanding. Next: Aging or Due Document, then collect with Receipt.
- Unpaid supplier bills past due. Supplier bills past due, still outstanding. Next: purchase Aging, then pay with Payment.
- Money in bank. Sum of bank and cash special-account balances. Next: Cash Book Listing and Bank Reconciliation.
- Expense this month. Posted expenses for the period. Next: cash-book payments, Expenses, or a journal.
- Monthly Sales, Purchase, Expense, and Profit & Loss charts. Month-by-month trend for the selected Period. A printable statement is Financial Report → Profit & Loss.
- Bank Account boxes. One balance per bank or cash account. Next: that bank’s cash book and reconciliation.
- Period close, accruals, and depreciation are not on this page. Use Month-end close or Year-end close in chat, Accrual Listing, and Depreciation Journal.
If something goes wrong
- All zeros. Switch Company, or no documents are posted in that Period.
- Sales look low against the invoices. Period is Today or Last Month. Set This Month or Year to Date.
- Bank box empty. Create a Bank Account or Cash Account special account on the chart of accounts.
- Overdue looks wrong. Check invoice due dates, knock-off on Receipt or Payment, and past invoices brought in at conversion.
- You wanted a printable profit and loss. Open Financial Report → Profit & Loss. The dashboard chart is a snapshot.
